Bequests

A bequest is one of the easiest gives to make.

With the help of an advisor and/or lawyer, you can include language in your will or trust specifying a gift be made to family, friends or The Blind Industries and Services of Maryland, as part of your estate plan.

What are the benefits of making a bequest?

  1. You leave a lasting legacy to be remembered.
  2. You lessen the burden of taxes on your family.
  3. You may receive estate tax savings.

What can I bequest to BISM?

  • A stated dollar amount.
  • A percentage of your residual estate (what remains after gifts to loved ones and expenses have been paid); or
  • A specific asset, such as securities or other marketable property.

How do I make a bequest?

An example of language that you can share with your advisor and/or attorney to add to your will when updating that may be useful:

I give and bequeath to Blind Industries of Maryland, 3345 Washington Blvd, Baltimore, MD 21227 [the sum of __________ Dollars ($__)] [ _______ % of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate], to be used for its general charitable purposes.

How do I name BISM in my will?

Legal name:  Blind Industries and Services of Maryland

Address: 3345 Washington Blvd, Baltimore, MD 21227

Federal tax ID#:  52-0591664

Would you like to know my plans?

We hope you’ll let us know when you have named BISM in your will or trust so that we can thank you and include you in our Legacy Society.
