BISM welcomes Dan Ceglowski as our new Chief Financial Officer. A Radford University graduate, Dan has worked all over the map, from nonprofits to corporate to publicly traded companies, with notable stops as Financial Director at Arch Roanoke, a nonprofit serving people experiencing homelessness, then Corporate Comptroller and VP of Accounting at RPP Inc., and most recently overseeing the books at Casella Waste Systems, a two-billion-dollar publicly traded company.
When asked why BISM, Dan didn’t hesitate: “I wanted work with a direct, tangible impact.” After years in corporate finance, he was looking for a role where the outcomes weren’t as abstract . Where he could see, day to day, who the work was actually for.
That impact hit him fast. “I’ve been astounded by how capable all of our associates are,” Dan said, reflecting on his first month at BISM. He points to the way BISM builds a workplace where blind and low-vision associates aren’t just accommodated but set up to succeed on equal footing with their sighted peers. Something he says has genuinely shifted how he thinks about capability and opportunity in the workplace.
Financial stability is at the center of how Dan thinks about his role. “I want our kids to do better than we did,” he said jokingly. He’s focused on building an organization that’s more financially stable for the long haul, so the programs and jobs BISM provides can keep growing. He views his job as the support system for both our manufacturing and ITR programming.
Outside the office, Dan is a self-described car guy, BMWs, specifically, and he’s currently working on improving his Spanish.
