We have an exciting position across all of our manufacturing locations here at Blind Industries and Services of Maryland. We are looking for a Production Engineer. BISM is a leading producer of cut fabric kits and sewn products, such as military garment kits, military uniforms and other cut and sewn products.
So, what will you actually be doing?
The successful candidate will:
- Industrial engineering duties include cost analysis, work measurements, workforce planning, machinery requirements, and production planning.
- Perform time studies to establish production standards, document operator performance, develop capacity planning, and implement line balancing techniques.
- Process engineering assignments include developing key performance indicators (KPI), maintaining standard operating procedures (SOP), work instructions (WI), and forms.
- Perform work simplification analysis to increase productivity, reduce scarp and improve quality consistency.
- Perform ISO internal audits, monitor data collecting and prepare associated documentation.
- Mechanical engineering duties include evaluating equipment to improve accessibility and plant efficiency.
- Quality engineering responsibilities include developing quality expectations for each operation, WIP audit plans, and perform analytics on inspection data.
- Safety engineering duties include OSHA/MOSHA/NC OSH compliance, risk assessments, and serving on plant safety committees.
- Plant engineering assignments include workflow mapping, plant design, product line layout, PM plans for equipment & building systems, applying lean manufacturing techniques, and promoting a 5s culture.
Qualifications:
- Requires 3-5 years of practical experience of applying engineering science and technology to a manufacturing environment.
- Requires 3-5 years of knowledge of production and processing: design, forecasting, procurement, scheduling, manufacturing, and distribution.
- Requires 3-5 years of experience working with management principles, strategic planning, accounting, human resource modeling, leadership techniques, and coordinating people, machinery, and facilities.
- Knowledge of building, utilities, and machines including their use, function, design, repair, and maintenance.
- Training knowledge of principles & methods for designing curriculums and training objectives, teaching & instruction for individuals and groups, and measurements of training effectiveness.
- Clerical knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files/records, designing forms, and using proper terminology.
- Travel- 35% daily and overnight travel is required for visiting other plants, attending conferences, training sessions, meetings, and networking.
