As blind students transition into their middle and high school years, BISM continues to provide comprehensive programs designed to meet their evolving needs and prepare them for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
GLIDE – Gaining Leadership, Independence, Direction, and Experience:
Registration open for 24/25 school year)
Monthly workshops designed to empower students with essential skills, fostering independence, and leadership qualities as they navigate through their academic years.
Summer College Prep Program (coming Summer 2025):
A four-week intensive summer program aimed at preparing blind students for the challenges and opportunities of college life. Through a blend of academic enrichment, life skills development, and mentorship, students gain the confidence and readiness to excel in higher education.
STAR – Students Training in Advocacy and Responsibility:
RETURNING Summer of 2025!
This program focuses on helping blind students gain a comprehensive understanding of the various career paths available to them. Through work cite tours, professional mentorship, and hands-on experiences, students explore their interests, develop essential skills, and make informed decisions about their future careers.
GOLD STAR:
An immersive four-week work-based learning experience designed to provide blind students with valuable hands-on experience in a professional work environment. Through internships, job shadowing, and nonvisual skills training, students gain practical skills, build professional networks, and prepare for successful careers after graduation.
