Juneil Goode was diagnosed with glaucoma in high school. As his sight worsened, daily life got harder, and he started having to rely heavily on others for help.
As his vision loss progressed, Juneil knew something had to change. After college, he enrolled in BISM’s CORE program. At first, he was hesitant, but then something clicked.
He learned Braille and started reading Star Wars books. He learned to bake sweet potato muffins and maple apple cookies. He cooked meals, traveled independently, and gained the confidence to do things he hadn’t thought possible.
After graduating from the CORE program, he began working in one of BISM’s supply centers. Then, two years later, Juneil became a BISM instructor, teaching others the very same skills that helped him take control of his life.
Today, Juneil navigates living with blindness with confidence and has learned to be more open and willing to accept guidance, an attitude shift that took time but has had a lasting impact.
“BISM helped me embrace my blindness and stop being afraid to grow – it’s a gift I will always be grateful for,” says Juneil.
Your support helped turn Juneil’s fear into freedom. Thank you for believing in what’s possible.
