Over the last three years, we have heavily prioritized moving from day-to-day thinking to thinking about the future and what we need to do to get there. A big part of this has been thinking of ways to create opportunities for all our associates. It also prioritizes anticipating future demands and expectations for our programs and preparing accordingly. At the core of it all is a vision for a world where there are no limits for blind people.
We recently worked with Maryland State legislatures to pass a bill that allows us to expand our product offerings to our state customers. This in turn will add financial stability and future job growth through partnerships with companies who get our mission and want to be part of it. Additionally, new and exciting projects are in the works, which we’ll be able to activate once we finish our migration to Business Central, a software platform that integrates production, sales, eCommerce, inventory, shipping, and accounting.
This migration has been a major, but necessary undertaking as we work toward better accessibility and ONE BISM. I want to recognize the extra time, energy, and effort given to this initiative by our team members to help us realize this vision. Once the migration is complete, it will lay the foundation of efficiency and profitability for our organization. Thank you to all those team members working on this project for your dedication!
Finally, I would like to acknowledge our Board of Trustees. Without their direction, faith, and commitment, we would not have the resources to take these bold actions. A well-deserved thank you to long-time trustees Dr. Walter Brown and Melba Taylor as they retire from our board, and an eager hello to our new members, Nilanjana Moulik, Nicholas Richardson, and Kevin Cross, and their fresh perspectives.
I look forward to sharing more good news about the future ahead at BISM in the coming months.
