Position Summary
This role serves as a key connector across the employee lifecycle—leading full-cycle recruiting efforts, shaping onboarding experiences, and driving employee engagement initiatives that support retention and organizational effectiveness. The Talent & Culture Manager will focus heavily on supporting BISM’s manufacturing and mission workforce, ensuring that hiring, onboarding, and engagement practices are accessible, inclusive, and aligned with the organization’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Stability
- Lead full-cycle recruitment for a range of roles, with a strong emphasis on high-volume manufacturing and mission-critical positions
- Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce needs, improve job design, and streamline hiring processes
- Develop and maintain candidate pipelines, including partnerships with community organizations, workforce development programs, and vocational rehabilitation sources
- Ensure an accessible, inclusive, and positive candidate experience aligned with BISM’s mission
- Track and analyze recruiting metrics (time-to-fill, turnover trends, source effectiveness) to inform continuous improvement
- Support workforce planning efforts in collaboration with HR leadership and operations
2. Onboarding & New Hire Experience
- Design, implement, and continuously improve onboarding programs that support early engagement, retention, and productivity
- Ensure onboarding processes are accessible and tailored to the needs of employees who are blind or visually impaired
- Partner with Training & Accessibility teams (current or future alignment) to integrate job readiness and skill development into onboarding
- Monitor new hire success indicators (e.g., 30/60/90-day retention, early turnover trends) and adjust strategies accordingly
3. Employee Engagement & Culture
- Lead the development and execution of employee engagement initiatives, with a focus on frontline and manufacturing employees
- Design and administer engagement surveys, analyze results, and partner with leadership to implement action plans
- Support programs that foster inclusion, belonging, and connection to BISM’s mission
- Develop and coordinate employee recognition programs that reinforce performance, values, and contributions
- Partner with supervisors and managers to strengthen engagement at the team level
4. Employee Experience & Retention Insights
- Conduct stay interviews and exit interviews to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Serve as a resource to employees and managers on engagement-related concerns and opportunities
- Identify and address barriers to retention, particularly within mission-critical roles
- Collaborate with HR leadership to align engagement strategies with broader organizational goals
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategic Support
- Collaborate closely with HR, Training, Accessibility, and Operations teams to ensure alignment across the employee lifecycle
- Contribute to the evolution of BISM’s People & Culture strategy by bringing forward insights from recruiting and engagement work
- Support internal communication efforts related to employee programs, initiatives, and culture-building activities
- Assist in developing scalable processes and programs that support organizational growth and workforce development
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 4–7 years of progressive HR experience, with demonstrated responsibility in recruiting and/or employee engagement.
- Experience supporting high-volume, hourly, or manufacturing workforces strongly preferred.
- Experience in nonprofit, mission-driven, or workforce development environments a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, operational environment
- Data-informed mindset with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies
