This position is full time, Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week. Annual salary of $45,000-$58,000.
Position Summary
This position provides Instruction in rehabilitation services, congruent with non-visual skills in structured discovery methodology (Adult, Senior, Youth, or Home) for BISM’s programs. Fosters the team environment, which focuses on applying resources for each student to achieve independence. Responsible for a broad spectrum of activities in their respective department including, but not limited to program quality and development, team building, and student guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide confidence-building instruction to students in all I.T.R. programs. Past examples of Confidence include but are not limited to: Woodshop, Fitness, creative arts, Organized Outings & Yoga.
- Believes in the Structured Discovery philosophy and methodology of instruction.
- Provides day-to-day training and education of others; works in a creative environment which requires invention, imagination, originality and talent
- Participates in planning, implementation and evaluation of objectives and goals.
- Deliver principled blindness mentoring and coaching to students and their families.
- Provide blindness philosophy training to students in all programs.
- Externally promote the organization and participate in public or private functions as a representative of the company.
- Prepare monthly student reports and evaluations.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment and adhere to safety standards.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Requires education or learning beyond high school which was acquired by a prolonged course of specialized instruction.
- Must be proficient in alternative skills of blindness.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong classroom organization and management skills with the ability to work with up to 4 students at one time.
- Must be able to read and interpret industry-specific journals, financial reports and legal documents.
- May be required to travel.
Additional Desired Qualifications (NOT Required):
- Experience working in the blindness community
- Certification(s) in the field of education and/or rehabilitation
- Participation in organizations related to blindness
