Who we are:
The BISM textile operations group manufactures military uniforms for our nation’s military. We are known for our outstanding quality, excellent customer service and on-time delivery.
What we do:
We cut and sew and distribute contract military tactical gear.
What will you do:
Operate sewing machines to perform related sewing operations in the manufacture of garments.
Essential Position Functions:
(Other duties may be assigned)
- Operate and maintain different types of sewing machines, including single needle, coverstitch, overlock, and double needle machines. Follow detailed instructions and patterns to sew garments accurately.
- Adjust machine settings for different fabric types and production requirements.
- Inspect finished garments to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Identify and correct defects in stitching, seams, and other garment components.
- Perform final quality checks and make necessary adjustments before packaging.
- Execute complex sewing techniques and repairs, including hemming, topstitching, and other special stitching.
- Troubleshoot common sewing machine problems and perform basic tasks such as needle threading and changing bobbin.
- Meet daily production targets and contribute to overall team productivity.
- Collaborate with other team members to streamline production processes and improve efficiency.
- Assist in the development of new sewing techniques and methods to enhance production.
- Ensure proper fabric alignment and tension during sewing to avoid distortions and defects.
- Identify when cut fabric pieces are accurate according to patterns and specifications.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating sewing machines.
Qualifications
- Technical knowledge in sewing or garment construction is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in sewing and garment production.
- Proficiency in operating various sewing machines and understanding garment construction.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to read and interpret patterns, technical drawings, and sewing instructions.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Basic problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot sewing machine issues.
