Blind Industries and Services of Maryland's WINGS youth program graduation on August 18 from 1-2:30 p.m.
Baltimore, MD - Blind Industries and Services of Maryland (BISM), a not-for-profit organization that provides training and employment for blind citizens of Maryland and surrounding states, celebrates its Winning Independence Now Guarantees Success (WINGS) program graduates on Friday, August 18 at 1 p.m. The ceremony takes place at BISM's Baltimore facility located on 3345 Washington Boulevard, Baltimore MD 21227.
WINGS, now in its eighth year, is an intensive five-week residential summer program for transitional blind youth, ages 15 to 21, who are preparing for employment or post-secondary education. The program takes place at BISM's Baltimore headquarters and at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County campus. This year's WINGS graduating class of 10 consists of residents from Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
The WINGS participants received top quality training from BISM's blind professional staff and counselors in everything from cane travel to independent living skills to computer technology to Braille. In addition, the program's schedule was jam-packed with fun and exciting adventures that built self-esteem and confidence.
The fun-filled graduation ceremonies are attended by BISM staff, the WINGS participants and their families. The following is the graduation schedule:
Opening Remarks……Loretta White – Director of Youth Services
Video Presentation
Teen Reflections
Counselor Reflections
Presentation of Certificates
Continuing the Momentum……Rosemary Lerdahl – Director of Rehabilitation
This is a great opportunity for media outlets to learn more about BISM and to experience the incredible impact our organization has on blind youth. Please contact Mr. Ennamorato for more information and we hope to see you there!
