BISM Senior Services presents a four-day residential senior retreat BISM Cumberland facility - May 23-26, 2006
Cumberland, MD - Blind Industries and Services of Maryland (BISM), a non-profit organization that provides training and employment for blind citizens of Maryland, is pleased to welcome Senior Independent Living: Vision, Education & Readjustment (SILVER) participants to a Residential Training Retreat from May 23-May 26, 2006.
The majority of the activities will take place at the BISM plant on 322 Paca Street, Cumberland, MD 21502.
The dedicated BISM Senior Services staff provides the participants with one-on-one training in cane travel, independent living skills, Braille and computers. Participants are paired with a mentor each day, whom they spend free time, eat meals and participate with in group activities. Each day also includes a discussion class, along with a craft or leisure activity. The blind seniors learn how to accomplish everyday tasks using non-visual innovative methods, in an enjoyable and positive environment.
Hotel accommodations are provided at no cost to the seniors, and BISM funds all meals and activities. The SILVER retreat would be an excellent opportunity for local media outlets to become reacquainted with our unique organization.

1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. – Class Rotation 2
2:45 pm. - 3:45 p.m. – Class Rotation 3

Thursday 5/25
