Office Eagle military base service stores celebrate National Disability Employee Awareness Month October 4-5 and 17-19 from 10 a.m-2 p.m.
The Office Eagle military base service stores, located in Maryland, Washington D.C., Delaware and Kentucky, will celebrate National Disabilities Employee Awareness Month with special events at each location this October.
Office Eagle is a retail and e-commerce business owned and operated by Blind Industries and Services of Maryland (BISM), a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization. BISM provides state-of-the-art training and employment opportunities for blind and visually impaired people of all ages, from Maryland and the surrounding region.
Our Office Eagle stores are proud to serve military personnel at Maryland's Aberdeen Proving Ground and Edgewood Arsenal, District of Columbia's Bolling Air Force Base, Delaware's Dover Air Force Base and Kentucky's Fort Knox Army Base. The entire Office Eagle product line, and much more, is available on our website at www.supereaglesupply.com.
Blind and visually impaired Associates play a pivotal role in operations, customer service and maintenance at all Office Eagle stores, which sells everything from office supplies to military uniforms. At our Aberdeen Office Eagle location, seven of the nine Associates are blind or visually impaired/physically challenged; at Bolling, two of the five Associates are blind/visually impaired, including Associate Keith Tyson who was recently nominated for the national Milton J. Samuelson Career Achievement Award; at Dover, five of the nine Associates are blind/visually impaired, including the store manager; at Edgewood, two of the four Associates are blind/visually impaired; at Fort Knox, five of the ten Associates are blind/visually impaired; and at our e-commerce site, one of two Associates is blind/visually impaired.
The theme for this year's celebration is a good old fashioned Hoedown, complete with hot apple cider and plenty of tasty snacks to keep the customers happy. The Office Eagle Associates will be dressed in down-home country gear, including straw cowboy hats, and the stores will be decorated. Music and other fun activities will also be part of the celebration. During the day, a PowerPoint presentation will be on display highlighting the various services and opportunities BISM and Office Eagle provide for the blind community. Associates will be available to speak with both customers and media about their experience at Office Eagle.
The Office Eagle is a proud participant in the Javits-Wagner-O'Day (JWOD) program. JWOD uses the purchasing power of the federal government to buy products and services from participating state and private non-profit agencies, including BISM, that are dedicated to training and employing individuals with disabilities. A multitude of JWOD products are for sale at Office Eagle stores.
We invite all media outlets to take part in the festivities and to learn more about Blind Industries and Services of Maryland and Office Eagle.
