BISM welcomes Judith D. Moore to the Board of Trustees
Baltimore, MD – Blind Industries and Services of Maryland(BISM) is pleased to welcome Judith D. Moore to the Board of Trustees. Mrs. Moore was officially introduced at the April 3, 2006 BISM Board of Trustees meeting in Baltimore.
Mrs. Moore brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from both the public and private business sector. Her commitment to improving the lives of blind people spans three decades, and BISM is very fortunate to have her on board.
“Mrs. Moore believes in the capabilities of blind people and appreciates the obstacles they have to overcome,” BISM President Frederick J. Puente said. “She brings her enthusiasm and commitment to our Board of Trustees.”
In the late 1970’s to early 1980’s, Mrs. Moore was the Executive Director of the Rochester, NY Association for the Blind. During her tenure, the Rochester Agency became an active member of National Industries for the Blind (NIB) employment program.
Mrs. Moore’s continued passion and commitment to blind citizens and causes led to a successful reign as Chief Executive Officer for NIB in the early 1990’s. During this time, the concept of military base supply stores was developed at NIB. The base supply stores remain a vital employment source for blind people.
“Mrs. Moore brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Blind Industries and Services of Maryland that will be of direct benefit to blind people,” Puente said. “She understands the markets we deal in, and what is required to be successful.”
From 1998 to 2002, Mrs. Moore was the President and CEO of The Chauncey Group International in Princeton, New Jersey. She was recruited to The Chauncey Group by the Board of Directors to grow the new non-profit subsidiary owned by Educational Testing Service (ETS), the largest non-profit academic testing organization in the world. During Mrs. Moore’s three-year tenure, The Chauncey Group doubled revenues and became the largest provider of English language testing in the world.
Mrs. Moore currently utilizes her business knowledge and leadership skills as CEO and partner of LaserGrade, LP. She is responsible for the overall strategic planning and development for LaserGrade, which specializes in proctored computer-based test administration for professional and occupational licensure and certification examinations.
