Mayor Carleton E. Carey to speak at Office Eagle's 10th Anniversary celebration
Dover Air Force Base, December 6 at 10 am
Dover, DE - In recognition of its tenth year of partnership with the Dover Air Force Base, the Office Eagle Base Supply Center, located on 639 Atlantic Street, will host a 10th anniversary celebration on December 6th at 10 am.
The festive event will feature military, government and civilian dignitaries, guest speakers and tasty refreshments. Dover Mayor Carleton E. Carey is scheduled to attend and speak at the event.
Office Eagle is a retail and e-commerce business owned and operated by Blind Industries and Services of Maryland (BISM), a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization. BISM provides state-of-the-art training and employment opportunities for blind and visually impaired people of all ages.
The Dover Office Eagle Base Supply Center opened for business on December 7, 1997. With a staff of five associates, three of whom were blind, the store originally offered office supplies, tools, and cleaning supplies for government customers on base. In 1999, the Dover store expanded to include military clothing and Hazmat operations, and sales have grown from $1.2 million to $4.6 million annually.
Blind and visually impaired associates play a pivotal role in operations, customer service and maintenance at all Office Eagle stores. At the Dover Office Eagle location, six of the 13 current associates are blind or visually impaired, including store manager Kimberly Feller.
The Dover AFB Office Eagle was BISM's first Base Supply Center. Our other Office Eagle stores are proud to serve military personnel at Maryland's Aberdeen Proving Ground and Edgewood Arsenal, District of Columbia's Bolling Air Force Base, and Kentucky's Fort Knox Army Base.
The Office Eagle is a proud participant in the AbilityOne program (formerly JWOD). AbilityOne uses the purchasing power of the federal government to buy products and services from participating state and private non-profit agencies that are dedicated to training and employing individuals with disabilities. A multitude of AbilityOne products are for sale at Office Eagle stores and on our e-commerce website, www.supereaglesupply.com.
