Aberdeen, MD - BISM's Office Eagle Base Supply Center, located on the Aberdeen Proving Grounds Army Base, will celebrate the nomination of associate Nicole Marie DiSeta for National Industries for the Blind's (NIB) prestigious 2007 Peter J. Salmon Direct Labor Employee of the Year Award on February 20 at 11 a.m.
Nicole has been chosen to represent BISM and Office Eagle at the NIB National Conference later this year in Chicago. The BISM selection committee chose Nicole after carefully considering nominees from the ten different BISM divisions.
Office Eagle, owned and operated by BISM, is a retail and e-commerce business that proudly serves military personnel on five military bases in Maryland, District of Columbia, Delaware, and Kentucky. BISM's mission is to provide state-of-the-art training and employment opportunities for blind and visually impaired people of all ages. BISM serves the entire state of Maryland, with facilities in Baltimore, Salisbury and Cumberland.
Nicole was born in 1983 and diagnosed with cerebral palsy. She began suffering vision problems at eight months old and was later diagnosed with an optic nerve hypoplasia. She was diagnosed with Joubert Syndrome at the age of 21.
Nicole joined the Office Eagle Base Supply Center in October 1999 while still attending Fallston High School. Following high school, Nicole continued her education in the Future Link Program at Harford Community College.
While pursuing more education, Nicole remained steadfast in learning the necessary skills to succeed at the Office Eagle. She mastered a variety of tasks, including stocking inventory, labeling products, pulling inventory from the warehouse, and customer service. Her upbeat personality, strong interpersonal skills, leadership and training ability have helped guide her fellow Office Eagle associates.
